WEBSTER UNVEILS HIS NEW ALBUM "WEB DUBOIS"

WEB DuBois is Webster’s tenth album, and one of his strongest yet. Far from slowing down, he seems more inspired than ever. With nearly thirty years of experience behind him, his command of lyricism shines through each of the album’s ten tracks.

WEB DuBois marks a return to Webster’s roots. After exploring jazz with 5 for Trio in 2019 and 2020, he returns six years later with a collection of instrumentals inspired by the 1990s, an era that left a lasting mark on him both musically and creatively. The album is entirely produced by DJ Nerve.

Webster approached this project with the same mindset he had when he first started rapping at age 15: with no expectations, simply for the joy of playing with words and ideas.

Longtime collaborators who have accompanied Webster throughout the years once again answered the call: Marième and Valérie Clio, joined by Guillaume Tondreau. By inviting Joseph Sarenhes and Melvin, the album’s only hip-hop features, the Limoilou rapper also wanted to make space for a new generation of artists. The late DJ Fade Wizard, with whom Webster shared stages around the world, delivers his scratches one final time on the track “Pt. III.”

The album title pays tribute to William Edward Burghardt “W.E.B.” Du Bois, the influential twentieth-century intellectual who thoughtfully examined the many dimensions of racism and its impact on society. Through historical essays, short stories, novels, and poetry, he became an intellectual and activist inspiration for millions around the world, including Webster, whose close friends affectionately call him “Web.”
