SARA DUFOUR PRESENTS HER FOURTH ALBUM DOLBEAU-MISTASSINI
Montreal, September 18, 2026 — Sara Dufour’s fourth album, Dolbeau-Mistassini, available now, was born from a vision that came to her while on her last tour: bringing her entire team together to spend meaningful time with one another.
In the summer of 2025, after returning home to Dolbeau-Mistassini, Sara moved her Ski Doo and ATV out of her garage and transformed it into a recording studio, while her living room became the control room. She housed her team within walking distance of her home, allowing her musicians and their families to stay nearby. Every evening, everyone gathered around the same table for dinner throughout the creative process. The result is an album driven by a deeply human energy, shaped by spontaneous jams and genuine moments of warmth.
Recorded almost entirely live in a garage, the album embraces the imperfections that make it unique, offering a very real response to the rise of artificial intelligence over the past year. The chemistry between the band members, who have shared the stage with Sara for many years, is evident throughout the record. Nearly every song was written and co-written with longtime collaborator Dany Placard, who also co-produced the album.
The selection of songs came together naturally, and the themes reflect everything Sara has experienced in recent years: life on the road, time spent at home reflecting on her future and the society around her, nostalgia for her younger days, and love, an endless source of inspiration.
Staying true to her distinctive folk rock sound, Sara Dufour delivers an album filled with infectious grooves ("Dans l’temps," "Alright," "Quand"), while also making room for softer, almost meditative moments ("Paraît," "La mémoire de l’eau," "Y’a neigé"). Dolbeau-Mistassini is arguably Sara’s most heartfelt album to date, but not only because of its lyrics. Its strength comes just as much from the emotion in her voice and the authenticity of the recording itself.
