CARL MAYOTTE PRESENTS "STUDIO 56" : HALFWAY BETWEEN NEO-DISCO AND JAZZ FUSION

In anticipation of the release of his upcoming album, scheduled for early 2026, bassist Carl Mayotte unveils a second single titled “Studio 56.”

With this new piece, the composer guides the listener into a more personal and sensitive world, aligned with the theme of his next record: the death of his father and the grieving process that followed. Blending dreamy atmospheres, powerful melodies, and hyper-groovy rhythms, “Studio 56” refers to the childhood home where the jazz musician rehearsed with his father, himself a guitarist, when he first began playing music as a teenager. The hours spent jamming in his father’s studio left a deep impression on him. This song is therefore a nostalgic tribute to the man he considers his very first music teacher.

Stylistically, the track sits somewhere between neo-disco and jazz fusion. This mix of influences highlights the music the bassist shared with his father during the jams at “Studio 56.” The cover art even features a 1950s photo of that house, which would go on to host those epic rehearsal sessions between Carl and his father decades later.

The bassist continues to perform with his trusted quintet: Stéphane Chamberland on drums, Damien-Jade Cyr on saxophones and keyboards, Gabriel Cyr on guitar, and Francis Grégoire on keyboards. He also has the privilege, for this single, of being joined by two special guests: Pierre-Emmanuel Beaudoin and Dayron Luis San Juan on congas.
