NEW FROM WEBSTER: «BRNFRZ», A THEME SONG FOR THE HORROR MOVIE « BRAIN FREEZE » BY JULIEN KNAFO

Montreal, Friday, October 22, 2021 - One week before the theatrical release of the Quebec zombie film Brain Freeze, Webster and Vlooper (Alaclair Ensemble) unveil today the theme song.

Hip-hop artist and lecturer Webster was asked by director Julien Knafo to write the theme song for his new feature film, which opened the Fantasia International Film Festival last August.

"As an artist, I've always wanted to collaborate on the soundtrack of a film. Composing a piece from an existing work to complement it, it offers a pretty strict framework, but so challenging." - Webster

A challenge worthy of the rapper's pen! With BRNFRZ, Webster multiplies the subtle nods to the film and comes up with a text that fits perfectly with this intelligent fable about greed and its consequences. Accompanied by a disturbing and intriguing soundtrack, skilfully composed by Vlooper (Alaclair Ensemble), the artist signs a dark song, full of a sense of urgency and escape.

"For this project, I wanted to collaborate with Vlooper, a long-time friend with whom I hadn't worked in almost 20 years. I've always had great respect for his musical sensibility and artistic approach. I knew he would be the perfect person to capture the cinematic essence of this project."

The result is a song of imposing quality that reflects the script and the impressive cast; Roy Dupuis, Iani Bédard, Marianne Fortier, Simon Olivier Fecteau, Anne-Élisabeth Bossé, Stéphane Crête, Mylène Mackay, Claudia Ferri, Louis-Georges Girard, Mahée Paiement, Jean-Pierre Bergeron and Marie-Lyne Joncas in the lead roles.

Produced by Barbara Shrier for Palomar, written by Julien Knafo and Jean Barbe, Brain Freeze will open on October 29th, just in time for Halloween.

You can now get in the mood by listening to BRNFRZ, a theme song by Webster and Vlooper!

ABOUT THE MOVIE

At the beginning of winter, in an upscale enclave where leisure and money know no bounds, a golf club contracts a morally bankrupt multinational to genetically modify its turf to stay open year-round. The water on Peacock Island becomes contaminated with a "revolutionary" fertilizer that melts the snow, but turns its inhabitants into mutants. Before his eyes, 13-year-old André sees the lightning epidemic that makes him an orphan. Horrified, he must fight for his survival and that of his one-year-old sister, when he meets Dan, a 50-year-old security guard and poor survivalist. Faced with an emergency, André and Dan embark on an investigation that will lead them to the Golf Club's clubhouse. But it won't happen without losing a few feathers along the way...
